the time has come

my absentee ballot arrived yesterday – it is time to sit at the table with the kids and hopefully provide them with the understanding how importanting voting is – for our country to work.  They may disagree with some of my decisions and that is ok..just that they will someday have the voice to put their views out there – is a honor and right and not something to just to be taken for granted in our country.

When the kids are old enough to vote they can work as polling place officers. They’ll have a very long day and miss a day of school (though some schools give credit for working the polls), but they’ll actively be citizens and that’s worth something.

Of course, when you work at a polling station, you have to vote absentee – since you’ll be somewhere outside your precinct on voting day.
